Sunday Services
We are a Church family that recognises there are different needs within the one family.
We therefore offer three services on a Sunday morning.
8.00am Holy Communion (BCP) - St Paul's
This is a traditional service of Holy Communion that follows the Book of Common Prayer. It last for 45 minutes and includes a short sermon. All responses are spoken and there are no hymns in this service. This is an ideal service for those who are familiar with the Book of Common Prayer or want to start the day with a quieter more reflective service. Service orders are provided for everyone so that we can all follow the service and join in together.
9.30am Parish Communion - St Bart's
This is a service of Holy Communion, with songs, prayers, Bible readings, and a talk from the Bible. The service lasts for about an hour and service books are provided for you to follow along. We sing mainly traditional hymns with some more modern songs included too. We have refreshments together after the service and everyone is welcome to stay on for this.
11.00am Morning Worship - St Paul's
This is our main weekly meeting and it normally lasts for about an hour.
We normally start by singing a song of praise to God. There will usually be some kind of activity for all ages to join in with. After 10-15 minutes the primary age children leave for Sunday Club where they have their own age related activities.
The adults remain in the main building for Bible readings and a sermon on one of the Bible passages. The preacher will help us to understand what the passage is about and how it applies to our lives today. Prayers are said each week and once a month we remember the Lord Jesus' death for us as we take bread and wine together.
The music varies from week to week - sometimes we have a keyboard, band and singers, sometimes music is led by piano and sometimes we have the organ and choir. The songs we sing vary from week to week, but we seek to include the best of the old and the new.
Once the service has finished we then have tea or coffee together in the church hall.
Once a month, we have an 'all age' service with a short talk, songs and activities that are suitable for people of all ages. This is followed by refreshments in the church hall which everyone is welcome to stay for.
